The city government in Schwerte has made plans to house refugees - TopicsExpress

The city government in Schwerte has made plans to house refugees in barracks at an outpost that was used for SS guards at the Buchenwald concentration camp. During the time that the camp was open, 238,380 people were incarcerated within its walls, and it’s estimated that at least 56,000 people died there. The twenty one that authorities plan to “house” in the center are all asylum seekers, and understandably people are enraged at these plans. Buchenwald concentration camp was a place where many foreigners were killed, including people who never had the chance to seek asylum. Refugee groups, activists, academics, and other Germans have deemed the plan crude. The Concentration camp was mostly demolished in 1950, but the main gate, hospital ward, barracks, and crematorium remain. Source: Khan Hina Meraj
