The city issued blight tickets and a $2,710 fine in June and August to the owners of the Sperry building, Downtown Port Huron. The owners had until Nov. 16 to repair or replace broken or missing windows and to clean the window frames. The deadline has passed, the work to replace or repair the windows have not been done, and the fines have not been paid, but the developers have requested a building permit. Larry Jones, of Sperrys Landmark Inc., said developers are moving forward with renovating the historic building. Sperrys Landmark Inc. is scheduled for an administrative hearing regarding the matter on Dec. 1. We cant figure out why Sperrys was fined in the first place when there is work in progress, we are demoing, blueprints have been made, a dumpster is out back, and we made a public announcement that CityFlatsHotel was moving in, Jones said. We are working on it. If people refuse to fix a problem they should be fined, but we are in the process of fixing it. thetimesherald/story/news/local/port-huron/2014/11/20/sperrys-meet-blight-ticket-deadline/70027622/
