The city paid for a $53,000 study of the Guilford County Prison - TopicsExpress

The city paid for a $53,000 study of the Guilford County Prison Farm land for economic development. Many, if not most, city councilmembers don’t know anything about it and cannot explain why the city would pay for a study to develop county land. Even the rank and file Guilford County commissioners don’t know what’s going on. But Perkins has been the ringleader of a group that has been meeting for months to develop land that is not in Greensboro and is not even being considered for annexation by Greensboro. Why should plans for the development of land owned by Guilford County be kept from city councilmembers and county commissioners, not to mention the public? According to those familiar with the project, the cost of infrastructure alone will be at least $10 million to $20 million. Are the taxpayers of Greensboro going to be expected to foot that bill? We don’t know because it is all being done in secret. Todays Rhino Times
