The claim is a Jackpot for Everett but casinos would be a losing deal for Massachusetts. I love this state. We have tons of smart, creative people. Casinos are a bad deal. We can do so much better than predatory slots in self-contained energy sucking casinos. Growing up in NJ, I know well what happens to the surrounding small businesses around Atlantic City (where 3 casinos closed this year). For those of us who follow this tradition, Bishop Doug Fisher says, Jesus proclaimed, I have come to bring good news to the poor. Casinos are bad news for the poor. We follow Jesus. For others, its just bad public policy. And for progressive folks, its cowardly work around to real, just sustainable tax policy. I encourage you to support Repeal The Casino Deal and vote Yes on 3.
