The clock is winding down on 2014. For me, personally, it was a *great* year! I got married! I never thought that would happen in a million years, much less this one! Another part-time academic job came along. It wasnt something I absolutely needed, but it practically fell into my lap, so I took it. 2014 was not such a great year in other respects. But nothing really new. More government lies; more PC BS; more racial tensions; more police violence; more overseas violence; more evidence that low-information types are growing in number. Some say the U.S. economy improved. Maybe it did, just a little. Im not there. I have no specific predictions for 2015 except personal stuff. I want to finish my next book, & hit the ground running by sending out two articles for publication in January: the first one tomorrow (a set of reflections on the implications of the status of the academic precariat for what we should believe about academic output) & the second one on 31 January (Comtes Law of Three Stages and Postmodernism as a Fourth Stage or something like that). A step towards what I think of as my potential legacy: arguing the case that civilization needs to move towards a Fifth Stage ... as a condition of its survival ... & perhaps saying a few things about what this Fifth Stage will look like. G & I might travel to the U.S. in July (also arranging to get her a Chilean passport next month). My high school graduating class might have its 40th annual reunion on or around August 1. That would justify the trip up there; but well be doing other things as well (visiting my old South Carolina stomping grounds, including my parents grave -- they are buried together). A visit to Panama prior to that might also be in the works. Ive never been to Panama, but Im told it has a thriving expat community. I know of people who are happy there. Back to the U.S. Politically, we might find out to what extent the low-information masses have triumphed, if the GOP looks likely to nominate Jeb Bush while the Demos look likely to nominate Hillary Clinton, & the public says nothing, does nothing, continues to act like they are being given a choice. What this will communicate is that the situation is hopeless, & that if you have slightly more brains than a retarded horse you might as well withdraw & forget the whole thing. Or you could move to somewhere in South America. I have no predictions on whether the next great meltdown will happen in 2015. I am confident it will happen. That is because I may not trust either government or leviathan corporations, I do trust mathematics. Buy gold & silver. They will go up again. Signing off. Happy New Year. If you go out, be safe. Do not drink & drive. You know the drill ... Oh, the Abba song. Just ran across it. There doesnt seem to be a lot of New Year music, like there is Christmas music. Not classic stuff, but enjoyable. So enjoy.
