The club meets once a month to hear from an expert on a topic followed by group discussion. Topics will range from energy efficiency to resource extraction to global warming and climate change, mining, and more. This month’s meeting subject is: Forced Association - The Campus Assault on Liberty and the Forced Unionization of Child Care Workers: Our speaker is Attorney Aaron Solem, from the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. Aaron is one of the attorneys representing Minnesota childcare providers in their fight against forced unionization. Minnesota’s attempt at forcing the providers into a union was recently enjoined by the US Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Aaron is also an alumnus of CFACT’s collegiate program where he got his first taste of the politically correct assault on liberty based student groups. Aaron has been an instrumental strategist and legal analyst in CFACT’s legal fights against the University of Wisconsin and the State University of New York. He has also guided CFACT’s students at the University of Minnesota and UM-Duluth in challenging the forced funding of ideological groups. Aaron will be discussing the subversive ways the state forces students on campus and free citizens to contribute to leftist political and ideological causes and how recent court challenges and rulings protect the freedom of speech and association.
