The coalition of Nigerian youth from some of the nation’s socio-cultural groups at the weekend called on the National Assembly to ignore the alleged impeachment threat against President Goodluck Jonathan. In a press statement signed by its Interim National Coordinator, Prince Michael Newgent Ekamon, the group stated that the alleged move to impeach the president was the handiwork of those who plotted against him when he was acting president in 2010. The group comprises of Supermen Niger Delta Youth Council, United Middle Belt Youth Congress,South Eastern Youth in Politics, Association of Odua Youth and the Isoko Solidarity Youth Movement. It warned that it’s ready to counter any move aimed at coercing or humiliating the president out of office because his administration has performed well since he came to power. The group, in the statement, also said it passed a vote of confidence on the president during its emergency meeting in Abuja because of the success of the transformation agenda of his administration. It claimed that his administration had brought stability to the economy and enhanced security oflives and property in the country, praising the ongoing fight against terrorism and crimes in the nation. “This group expressed satisfaction with PresidentJonathan’s mid-term performance score card. We call on him to round up his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election,” it added.
