The college is changing. The tech block building is being white washed and painted, hostels are being renovated, new teachers are being appointed, the post graduate students are being shifted to another hostels for giving a nice accommodation to all the students, tennis court near the boys hostel is almost complete and many more things are going on which are very beneficial and helpful for the students of RIEM and we would like to thank our dear Principal Sir for bringing about this changes. But there are some other things also going on which are very sad to witness - the cutting of trees near the Krishna and Narmada Hostels. The reasons are probably known to none but a few people. The trees in the campus are as old as the institute itself. They have witnessed generations of students getting their future shaped in this college. The trees were there when this college was RCEM. They witnessed its transformation into the RIEM. They were there when the college celebrated 50 years of its inception. But now, the trees are cut. All the memories of generations together are brought down to ground with them. Few months ago many trees near the tech block were also cut whose reasons are also unknown to many of the students. No one knows as to what happened to the wood. All that we ask for is some logical reason for this illogical doings. These are just pics of one tree. Many were brought down before this one. These are not just trees. Many memories of the students and people who worked here in this college were associated with them. We cant bring the trees back to life. All we can do now is to ask the authorities to explain their reasons for cutting the trees down and hope that in future, a situation as this does not come to haunt us again.
