The college of Medicine, a constituent of the University of Malawi has been closed indefinitely amidst discrepancies over the manner in which a communication to close the college was issued. The development comes in the heels of a student demonstration on Friday over management’s decision not to pay them K40, 000 in upkeep allowances over the festive holiday. The students also fault management for forcing them to take a holiday when they will be sitting end of semester examinations only three weeks later. One of the students said the college had shown disregard for them by sending messages to the media that the school had been closed and the subsequently police to enforce the decision
