The command to put blood on doorposts during the first Passover does not indicate a lack of knowledge on the part of God or on the obedience of his agent, the , but on the openness of the Israelites to the impending liberation. Indeed, when Christ shed his own blood, it was to paint the doorposts of our hearts with salvation. Dare we now open these doors to death? Yes! For God himself has turned the ritual to its head, and we have come to full knowledge of the mystery of freedom through Christ our Lord. (ION, 2015)
