The comments on most post on Chinese privilege prove the point Adeline Koh was trying to make - that people with Chinese privilege need to take a seat, shut up, and listen when a minority is speaking. Its very telling when the first thing Chinese people do is get defensive, deny that this privilege exists, and then dismiss minorities with NOT ALL CHINESE PEOPLE. Sure. Even if youre a gold star ally who has NEVER committed racial micro-agression, who has NEVER forgotten that Chinese people take up too much conversational and public space - listen. Acknowledge your privilege one more time. Amplify minority voices. Anger is a very valid emotion and an important form of expression - who are we to tone police minorities? And who ever said marginalization had to be polite to be legitimate? Very often minorities are either rude or they are invisible. Members of the queer community should know these things intimately - intersectionality teaches us solidarity.
