The comments on the Facebook page to on this article are hilarious, even by RTs standards. 1. No, NSA doesnt have a usable quantum computer. According to Snowden, they are trying to build one, but have made little progress. 2. Even if they did, they wouldnt be able to use it on a mass scale. They would be forced to select high-priority targets, which you almost definitely arent. 3. If an unscrupulous government considers you a high priority target, youre an idiot if youre using gmail without P2P encryption for secure communication. 4. Obviously this doesnt prevent the NSA if they have a court order. If the NSA has a court order permitting them to spy on you, you will be spied on. 5. Obviously this doesnt prevent Google from spying on you. If youre using gmail without P2P encryption for something you dont want Google to find out, you deserve to be spied on, idiot. 6. The NSA isnt the only entity that might want to spy on web traffic. Even if they could decrypt everything - which they cant - and read everything - which they cant - this is still a really really good idea. 7. Its moderately terrifying that anyone would ever consider /not/ using a secure protocol for e-mail. Like the fact that this is just now happening is madness. Well, frankly, I think the idea of having the insecure http protocol in the first place is slightly madness, but still. Madness.
