The company, which has been fighting for its survival, says it has been shocked to discover the government official given commercial-in-confidence information at the Anti-Dumping Commission has set up a consultancy business offering “rare and invaluable” services. Earlier this year the commission found that 56 per cent of Italian tinned tomatoes were being sold in Australia for far less than their normal price and imposed penalties. It ruled those imports “caused material injury” to SPC Ardmona’s 41-year-old tomato processing operations through lower sales, reduced profits and loss of employment. The case director was John Bracic, who now represents Italian tomato importers in their appeal with the Anti-Dumping Review Panel. “He was the one we gave our confidential information to,” SPC Ardmona managing director Peter Kelly said. “I hit the roof. He’s appealing a case where he was the case director. “He’s criticising his own work, finding fault with his previous work for the Australian people. Now we’ve got to go back and compete against the guy who has inside knowledge. I find it very frustrating. “Even when we win, apparently we don’t win.” .... weeklytimesnow.au/business/horticulture/spc-exposed-as-federal-insider-joins-rivals/story-fnker6g8-1226962724311 Tough times for our Australian farmers and industries.
