The concept of karma is nothing other than a weak excuse to disregard the disgusting inequities in life on the specious pretext that what goes around comes around. Even the most cursory examination of the world around us: the obscene wealth gap, the suffering, enslavement and murder of 55 billion animals per year, the plight of many beleaguered families, the trashing of our planet for the financial gain of the very few, the jails filled with people whove committed minor crimes (but those who are real criminals on a massive scale are free and in power), heck what about the 30,000 starving children dying daily in Africa? No, there is no karma, there are no afterlife consequences for shitty behaviour in this life. (All of that nonsense is designed to fool the gullible and provide them with the perfect excuse to wash their hands of responsibility — much like prayer.) To suggest otherwise is to avoid taking action to improve the only world that exists — this one.
