The conflict between religion and science is rooted in the notion - TopicsExpress

The conflict between religion and science is rooted in the notion that there is a creator necessary for the world to exist; but science has not yet broken free from the idea that there are causes and effects in nature. Reality is relational and the laws of nature demonstrate less that there are causes and effects, but that natural laws are descriptions of relationships in nature: changes propagate through natural phenomena and nature eventually restores a balance to the flow of energy and matter through the disruption. It is unfortunate for humankind that a creator god was invented to justify the conquest and ownership of the earth for it imposed a chasm separating humanity from reality, but the notion that a god has given humankind ownership of the earth is diminishing as people become aware of the disruptions of ideological conflicts and the relationship of consumption with loss of balance in the natural world. Incremental changes has resulted in the evolution of life, but catastrophic changes have resulted in the extinction of life. In all cases the beauty of the earth has been restored once the disruption has run it course. Heaven will be populated by the same selfish narcissistic people who believe they are specially chosen to serve God; Jesus said the meek shall inherit the earth - did he know something that religious believers dont?
