The contribution to conservation by wildlife ranching In Zambia: Ungulate populations on wildlife ranches increased from 21,000 in 1997 to ~91,000 in 2012 while those in many protected areas in Zambia and elsewhere declined steeply [20],[21],[22]. Wildlife biomass and diversity per unit area on both fenced and extensive wildlife ranches is greater than in national parks and GMAs.
