The controversy over Leisureland swimming pool remaining closed for the coming year continues with EU candidate, Sen Ronán Mullen describing the situation as a disaster. He said: Local swimming clubs want the pool re-opened by September 1. The board of management will have a meeting this Friday and I urge them to meet with the various groups to hear their concerns. Fine Gael city council candidate Pearce Flannery, reacting to news of the upcoming board meeting, called on board members to meet with the swimming and water-polo clubs and help them in their quest for alternative temporary pool facilities.
