The controversy over banning the resale of objects containing ivory is heating up. One category of objects are antique guitars. Vince Gill is a collector of about 40 vintage Martin Guitars containing elephant ivory. Some make the silly claim that ivory is importent for tone. He claims it is too expensive to replace the elephant ivory with other materials. Give me a break Vince. The only reason you want to hoard so many vintage guitars is to make money. The over pricing of old guitars is a dubious rip off at best. If you are concerned about your guitars becoming worthless do to containing elephant ivory, either replace the ivory parts or participate in the killing off off the dwindling herds at the rate of 35,000 a year for their tusks. Once they are extinct all will be good. You can make some money.
