The cornerstone of the four noble truths of Buddhism is that life is Dukkha - suffering. Yet what causes suffering? Suffering is the resistance to, or a rebellion against what you are experiencing in favor of an expectation of what you believe you should be experiencing. So in essence, its our attachments and expectations that causes emotional pain and suffering. So how do we rid ourselves of these attachments? Generally speaking, Id say one insight and act of surrender at a time - and the acceptance that comes with it. Welcome to the spiritual path.
