The corporate, industrial users of water which are backing the Portland Water District initiative have, in the past, filed a lawsuit which contended that the City of Portlands Tabor to the River: Green Streets program is an inappropriate use of Bureau of Environmental Services funds. But, these same corporate entities say the purpose of their initiative is to lessen costs incurred by the City of Portland BES. But, in reality, the Green Streets program has saved the City tens of millions of dollars by not having to upgrade underground infrastructure. So, if the corporate interests had won their lawsuit, and if they win this initiative, costs incurred would have and will go up, dramatically.
