The corporatist plutocratic politicians who consistently oppose modest hikes in the minimum wage ignore what actually happens after a worker takes home some of that extra $2.85 per hour. They dont invest it in a hedge fund, stuff it in a mattress, or bury a Mason jar full of it in their back yards. They spend it. They buy basic stuff. That is good for the consumer based portion of the economy. Unfortunately, when your goal is making your wealthy campaign contributors even more wealthy, human well being is a trivial matter.
