The cost of love A woman in Kunming, the capital of #China’s Yunnan Province allegedly killed her ex-husband’s #mistress by dousing her in gasoline and setting her alight on a street. The suspect, surnamed Shi, reportedly said that she carried out the attack because her victim, who was not named, “forced me to get divorced.” After the attack, Shi drank pesticide and cut herself with a knife, local news portal, yunnan.cn reported. According to the owner, surnamed Liu, Shi followed her victim and the two started to argue. Liu said he heard Shi accuse her victim of seducing her husband, but the other woman did not respond. Shi reportedly rushed to a restaurant across the street and picked up a bucket of gasoline. She poured the gas on her victim and set her ablaze, Liu said. Local Good Samaritans tried in vain to put out the flames before the woman finally collapsed. After the attack, Shi ran to a corner where she had apparently hidden a bottle of pesticide, drank some and began foaming at the mouth. According to reports, she then took out a knife and hacked at her chest and abdomen. Shi was carried to an ambulance, reportedly murmuring, As a woman, I have no reason to live, I dont want to live. It was reported that Shi had worked in a hotel but quit. Her ex-husband is said to be a bus driver. The couple had a daughter who will enter college this year.
