The court has extended the detention of the students detained - TopicsExpress

The court has extended the detention of the students detained after Cairo Universitys clashes on 16th, January, 2014 for another 45 days! The prosecution was renewing their detention every 15 days, but they have consumed all their powers doing this after 6 months of detainment. The students are to spend the (new) 45 days in Wady AL Natroun prison, where they have been beaten by SWAT, stripped off their clothes, blindfolded, and left in the burning sun without a single tissue covering their bodies. Some of the students have been sent to other prisons in order to break the sense of solidarity they created between them). And they have also been put in the same cells where they keep the criminals and outlaws. The students have been denied any visits too, and their lawyers & families were forcefully prevented from seeing them, as the authorities feared that the lawyers would see the injuries and take a legal action against the prison administration. The interior ministry wanted to terrorize the students (and the rest of the political detainees) to stop them from chanting inside prison. They were chanting in defiance of their detention and in protest of the repression that has spread in the country again. They have done nothing wrong to be put into prison cells in the first place, were not even part of the clashes that erupted when they got RANDOMLY arrested! Some of them were taken from OUTSIDE campus and some of them from the subway station! We have submitted all the legal documents which prove they had nothing to do with the clashes, yet the authorities deliberately ignored them. This has nothing to do with justice. It is totally politicized. They are being punished for their activism & political stances against all those who came to power in Egypt. My heart is ripping as I stand totally helpless! I WANT MY FRIENDS BACK. You have killed some, now let me have the rest! Free Bosh Kash & all the students. And if you are monitoring what we write on social media outlets, as has been decreed by the state, know that we have no intention to rest until our friends are freed.
