The crisis in South Sudan is a test of our neighbourliness and coexistence. We will get over it... But because I am a Dinka from Twic East Count, I have additional struggles, attitudes, perceptions, and stereotypes I cope up with on daily basis. Instead of mourning and sympathizing with me when I am mourning my loved ones, some Dinka and Nuer friends want me to prove whether my loved ones really died. They want me to tell them on which side they die because I am a rebel according to my other Dinka friends, while my Nuer friends think my people are a target of their revenge and they deserve death because they are Dinka. I will also get over this additional stigma and stereotyping. I dont need to prove anything to anybody because the prevalence of peace will make people accountable for their own utterances and actions that hurt our feelings. May peace prevail in South Sudan and may the innocent civilians and soldiers rest in peace.
