The crisis of violence and abuse against women in South Africa is not confined to our homes and communities but has also extended to the workplace. This means that black working class women especially, are not safe anywhere. In a similar show last year we focused on the case of Pinky Mosiane who was raped and brutally murdered while at work underground in Anglo-Platinum’s mine. Since then her case has made some progress. One suspect has been arrested and there is an ongoing court case. In this week show we assess whether the mining industry has made any changes and improvements to ensure the safety of female mineworkers since then.
