The cruelty and greediness of people in this world still astounds me. I have a friend who is dying of cancer. She has an 11 year old son who worships her and they are both sad and scared. She is broke from paying for treatments here and at Duke. She had to quit work last month b/c of constant, severe pain, and mobility problems. She also had move out of her long term apartment because she is now unable to walk up stairs. She found a very cheap, very sad looking house at 702 Powell Lane that she could afford. It is one level and she could get in and out of the door. She talked to the owners, Conley Realty, (their webpage is RDCONLEYREALESTATEMANAGEMENT.COM) at the start of October. She paid them first months rent and deposit. $1,300 which might as well be $113,000 to her. Within 2 weeks she began falling frequently and was advised by her doctor that she cannot live alone, it is too dangerous and therefore never moved in!! She called the owners, RD and Lavania Conley to let them know her situation and ask if she could have her money back. The answer was no. She asked even for a partial return because she is in such a bad situation. The answer was still no. She is distraught and doesnt deserve this. She could not help this. I will never do business with these people. There is such a thing as compassion. Especially for a 40 year old woman who is dying from cancer. If you agree with me repost this on your page so that others may never make the same mistake of doing business with these people. The right and decent thing to do is refund her money and learn how to treat others with respect rather than be greedy. This world isnt just about how much money you can make. Its about compassion and support and understanding for those less fortunate.
