The daily Dear Pokwaspa From member on Wed 7/2/14 This weekend my 5 year daughter was in the ER for a bee sting reaction. While at the hospital she wore her allergy bracelet as well as the hospital allergy bracelet. Her nurse twice offered her food she was allergic to. First she offered her pudding. (My daughter also has a milk and egg allergy). Then she later came in with crackers, she opened the bag and began to hand the bag to my daughter. My daughter never accepts food from anyone but me or my husband. However, trusting a nurse at the hospital, she did reach for this and ask the nurse Is this safe? The nurse said These cant have peanuts or tree nuts in them. I said I need to check the label. I flipped the label over and sure enough it was a may contain traces of. The nurse was apologetic and very surprised. I am not mad at the nurse...it is a reminder why I must always be on guard and continue to teach my daughter to ask questions and check labels etc. My question is would you reach out to the hospital to discuss the incident in hopes they would work on food allergy procedures? Member thoughts?
