The damage to the beach here seems to have been done by Coconut Bay Resort in Vieux Fort in their attempts to clear the beach of sea weed. The Trust has already met with the relevant government agencies to get the hotel to stop using heavy machinery on the beach. However it does not seem like they have stopped. Please email or call Coconut Bay, the District Rep (Dr. Anthony), and the Ministry of Tourism to get them to stop destroying the beach. Pointe Sables Beach is a nesting area for turtles and falls within the Pointe Sables Environmental Protected Area. Thanks to the concerned citizens who shared these photos with us.
