The day 2 October is commemorated as GANDHI JAYANTI..Mahatma Gandhi was a pre eminent leader in the struuggle for independence,under indian National congress in 1921.he started programmes to eradicate poverty,struggled for women rights,he undertook several fasts..,he said no one was untouchable,he introduced the concept of Swaraj self rule..his basic principle was non violence. He ate simple #vegetarian food.and wore dhoti,at last in 1947 we gained independence bt India was divided into 2 parts India,Pakistan..so there was disharmony all over.gandhiji observed several fasts then.at last on 30 October,1948.a nationalist nathiram godse fired 3 bullets into his chest ,Gandhiji was assassinated.lets all remember MAHATMA GANDHI on this day.
