At a press conference ahead of the game against Atlético, the Barça coach faced the music after a week of unrest and accepted his responsibility for what has gone wrong, yet sounded a defiant note. Enrique did not want to fuel any controversy in relation to his future, but when asked if he feels he has the boards backing, his answer was somewhat puzzling: Its not about whether I feel supported; its about doing my job. And in this regard, he went on: I feel strengthened, optimistic, eager and I will try to do my best. At the tense press conference - due to events surrounding his team and speculation of a supposed rift between himself and Leo Messi - Enrique said he remained focused on his job and motivated. However, he did admit there was some tension in the atmosphere that is likely to accompany the team throughout the season. We are specialists at adapting to whatever position we are in. Our fans are also tired of hearing all the bickering. Our aim is to make our fans happy, he added. When asked about the role of team psychologist Joaquín Valdés over the last week, Enriques answer was more emphatic: Im the one in charge. I accept any criticism directed at me, but it hurts me if my colleagues are criticised. I would like you to focus on me. Its not right and quite unfair. They dont deserve that. Im the one who is responsible for all the bad things and Im prepared to take it on board.
