The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it - TopicsExpress

The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you (Oba. 1:15a). THE LAST WORD Our scripture (Obadiah 1:15-21). The interesting Correlation between the first and last verses of today`s passage from Obidiah: The day of the Lord is near for all nations... And the kingdom will be the Lord`s (vv. 15a, 21b). The verses in between describe the downfall of Edom, therefore fufilling the earlier prophecy: from there I will bring you down (v. 4). Edom will therefore receive the same kind of treatment they had inflicted on others especially Juda. Challange to Holy LIving Jesus said in Matthew 7:12: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, this sums up thye Law of the prophets. If the Edomites could have adopted the Saviour`s mindset the outcome would have been signifently diffrent. Instead, of their self-made and self-preceived security, they rejected God`s secirity and according to Obadiah, would face the direct consequence that ultimately, the kingdom will be the Lord`s. There is a distinct sence of finality to Obadiah`s last word. For those who believe in the risen Christ and plan life for the promis and hope of everlasting life, it ia an eternal maxim: God always has the last word! Dear Jesus may we always live our lives according to your word and always know that God has the last word! (Paraphrased, Richard H. Neiderheiser, RE--FLECTING GOD 2/16/14). This is what the Lord Almighty said: show mercy and compassion to one another (Zechariah 7:9).
