The day the news came out about Gerrards decision came out I was so gutted I didnt tune in to any news or search for the news on the internet for 48hours. Hes my all time favourite footballer... However, blaming Brendan Rodgers or the club for his decision is unfair to say the least. Rodgers always emphasized his desire to keep him and he was offered a contract but decided to walk away. It is a fact he is no longer the same player who sunk Olympiakos and went on inspire the Istanbul victory, who won us the dramatic FA Cup final when it looked like we had lost. He is 34 and nearing the end of his career and it wouldnt be wise to give him every game just because he is Steven Gerrard. This is, in fact, a decision he made for himself and not for the LFC badge. He made huge sacrifices before, turning down offers to go to the biggest clubs in Europe but this time its the idea of sitting on the LFC bench that made him decide not to stay. We all would have loved to see him lift the Premiership title and if he had done that last season his leaving wouldnt have hurt that much because he would have gotten what he deserves. He is Liverpools greatest player ever and its been an honor watching him play in the red shirt. Its painful but we have to WALK ON now and keep believing in LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB.
