The days after the birth: Like I did on Christmas morning and - TopicsExpress

The days after the birth: Like I did on Christmas morning and like I do every day, I headed out to do the chores. As I was walking thru the barn I was wondering what the farmer who owned the barn where the baby Jesus was born was thinking the days following as he looked at his now empty barn. He must have thought to himself: A couple of days back, there were angles singing and blowing horns, a bright star shinning over his barn and folks from all over were visiting this new born baby. And now they were all gone. Would things ever get back to normal? Another thought went thru my mind as I looked around my empty barn: Have any of you mothers given any thought to how the discussion between Mary and Joseph went the days after Jesus is born? As a 3 time dad, I suspect it went something like this: Joe goes to Mary and says that an angle has appeared to him and that they need to leave. Mary comes right back and asked: “Did that angle mention anything about the fact that I just had a baby and my bottom hurts? And, now you want me to hop on that stupid donkey and take off bouncing across the desert? What are yawl thinking??” My suspicion is that she thought: Oh well, so many strange things have happened one more ain’t gonna make it any stranger. So, she sent Joe to Wal-Mart to get all the foam padding he could find and off they went. The farmer, Mary and Joseph all must have been wondering what the future holds for this baby boy? Over the next 30 years they were to find out. They were part of the birth of the King of Kings. Some will call him a prophet; some called him a very charismatic leader. To me he is the Son of the only true living God, my Savior, he is Christ Jesus.
