The deadline for floodway homeowners to apply for a buy-out has now passed. It seems that many chose to not move. From the article: But a few days before the Nov. 30 deadline, just 97 floodway homeowners (fewer than 40 per cent) had submitted an expression of interest. And if the hamlet of Bragg Creek — the community with the highest per capita number of these homes — is any indication, many homeowners have clearly decided they’re not budging. Liz Breakey, Division 1 councillor for Rocky View County, said she is aware of approximately six floodway property owners in the small community who had filed their paperwork before Saturday’s deadline. Six out of 36 Bragg Creek homes that the government believes lie in the direct path of future floods and pose too great of a risk to the taxpayer to rebuild. #abflood #BraggCreek
