The death penalty is final. No do overs. Yet the following are true: a lab chemist who provided expert testimony was just found guilty of falsifying her test results in thousands of cases. New DNA science results in inmates being set free. The vagaries related to what kind of attorney one can afford or to the unique biases a jury pool might have stir into the outcome of a trial. Are we really so wanting of such a final, undoable penalty that we are willing to overlook these potential flaws and risk killing so many innocents? Just to satsfy revenge?
