The decision is interesting and makes sense. If he died by lethal injection his organs would be useless. Sure, he wants to donate to his family, but there is an organ shortage. If they got on the list and got an organ, someone else wouldnt get one. Not that I agree with execution in principle, but if he wants to donate his vital organs let him. For that matter, let any prisoner with a life sentence do the same. Just put him to sleep, pull out the needed organs painlessly, and let him die in his sleep. They could then harvest the rest of his organs for those on the list. In his death he can atone for the life he took by giving life to those in needd.
