The defilade order causes a unit to seek cover in his immediate surroundings. It makes him less likely to be seen and more difficult to attack. A way to be undetected and strike in stealth. 1) to arrange (fortifications) so as to protect the lines from frontal or enfilading fire and the interior from fire from above or behind. 2) To shield from enemy fire or observation by using natural or artificial obstacles. 3) A unit placed IN - DEFILADE is protected from direct exposure to enemy fire.
