The definite benchmark of leadership given by Jesus Christ: Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else (Mark 9:35). As we go about the planning for 2015 general elections, I urge the political class to think about whom to serve. How responsive are they to people who are not being served? Can they see the marginalized and despondent hordes of Nigerian citizens crying for respite from the oppressiveness of greedy politicians? At the end of the day, what will be uppermost to those elected - business as usual to line their pockets with public money, being called a leader or doing what a real leader does?
