The definition of treason and why we should look at Nigerian leaders as treasonous. Dictionary offers the following definitions of the word treason: 1. the offense of acting to overthrow ones government or to harm or kill its sovereign. 2. a violation of allegiance to ones sovereign or to ones state. 3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery. When a leader steals public funds meant for the military defence and endangers that welfare of the country and the troops - have they not violated their allegiance to their state? When any leader steals public funds meant for healthcare and uses it to take care of themselves and immediate family, are they not betraying the public trust and confidence? Is this not breach of public faith and treachery? When a leader knowingly provides information to a person, or allows an individual who has been accused of funding an insurgency to gain access to highly classified information relating to defending the nation and squelching an insurgency, is that not a violation of allegiance to ones state. Nigerians need to wake up and stop seeing acts of corruption, stealing of public funds, funding of terrorists, associating with accused terrorists, verbally stating that you have full knowledge of who funds terrorists yet refusing to disclose as business as usual.
