The delayed payments to the families of fallen service members are completely unacceptable and the families of these fallen heroes are paying for the consequence of the federal shutdown. I took an oath January 2008 to protect and serve this country and I have never been so disappointed in how these brave soldiers, who are “VOLUNTEERS”, are being treated after giving their life for our country. We are all told that freedom is not free and our armed forces are the ones who get the job done. A perfect example would be when I was in Baghdad, Iraq a few weeks back. I was talking to a local Iraqi who praised me for serving as a solider. He could remember when the war first kicked off, a solider took the time to stop and give him food, water, and a soccer ball that he still has. He now works for the civilian company I work for in our location in Baghdad. I just thought this was absolutely amazing and I never felt better about my service and what we had done for those people. The President can go to as many peace meetings, rallies, blah blah blah, that he wants the bottom line still stands that the men and women who put boots on the ground are the real reason behind the success in any war or conflict. We have the opportunity to be ambassadors of this great country and learn from so many different people around the world. President Obama needs to wake up and be the leader for the “PEOPLE” who elected him. You Mr. President set the tone as our leader whether we want you in office or not. I would advise you to put your big girl panties on and do the job you were elected to do. All parties have equal responsibilities in this shutdown, but you sir are supposed to be the one who takes the high road and do what is best for the American people. Stop trying to campaign and bad mouth republicans every speech you make, if you can’t remember ill remind you. You have served 2 terms you can run again. GET OUR TROOPS HOME PAY THESE FAMILIES WHAT THEY DESERVE AND EARNED.
