The department of meteorology has said the ongoing rainy season is likely to be favourable to farming activities in northern Uganda. The Assistant Commissioner for data processing and applied meteorology, Deus Bamanya, described the current showers in the rest of the country as intermittent rains, which will not last for long. As predicted earlier in the seasonal forecast for June, the short rainy season for central, eastern and western Uganda will begin towards the end of August. The farmers are, therefore, advised to use these intermittent rains to prepare the gardens and acquire the necessary seeds as they wait for the onset of the second rainy season in September.
