The design of Southwest Alsbury Boulevard from Hulen Street to CR 1020 is Item 2I on the Jan. 5 Burleson City Council agenda, bit.ly/010515council. City council approved an engineering services contract with Freese & Nichols, Inc. for the design of Alsbury Boulevard from Cathy Drive to Hulen Street in 2012. This project was to be funded with federal monies and designed to federal guidelines. Council approved an amendment with Freese & Nichols, to design the first phase to non-federal standards in January 2014. The purpose of this design change was to expedite the construction of the project since the availability of federal construction funds was not expected before fiscal year 2018. Staff has now negotiated a design contract for the portion of Southwest Alsbury from Hulen Street to its connection with CR 1020. Completion of the design and ROW phases will make the project a more likely candidate to receive federal construction funding when it becomes available.
