The diagnosis, Multiple Sclerosis, MS.. Confusion, numbness and being depressed, Wobbly, slurred speech, sleeplessness and stress, Memory problems, tingling sensations and pain with even the softest caress, We fight an invisible MonSter every day of our lives, We are your children, your mothers, your husbands and wives, We are your neighbors, your friends, your fathers, your sisters or brothers, We are your doctors, your teachers and so many others, People tell us all the time, but you look fine, How are you sick? Its all in your mind, Well, yes, it is..its in my brain, where myelin has been eaten away We may have a good day or a bad day, but it never goes away, Dont tell us to change our diet or how your cousin cured hers, Its insulting, belittling and makes us angry, there are NO CURES, Show us patience, understanding, love, and compassion, Understand that we lack energy and our time must be rationed Help us raise awareness and understand our mental wires are kinked And maybe one day, one wonderful day, this disease we battle will go extinct By Hollie Leffel Diagnosed Aug 2012
