The dictionarys description of PAIN : noun 1. physical suffering or distress, as due to injury, illness, etc. 2. a distressing sensation in a particular part of the body: a back pain. 3. mental or emotional suffering or torment My description of PAIN: 1. A feeling or sensation in the human body that saps happiness, ambition, drive and sometimes the willingness to live and erodes the mind and soul of the sufferer. 2. A feeling or sensation in the human body that causes one to act differently than normal such as lashing out at someone for apparently no justified reason whatsoever and reduces tolerance levels. 3. A sensation or feeling in the human body that others cannot understand or feel. The level of discomfort felt by the bearer cannot be seen or felt by others therefore leaving others no clue as to the level of discomfort the bearer is in. PAIN is a feeling or sensation that is the bearers alone and that no one else can understand.......it is the bearers alone to deal with and cope with as best as he/she can without being driven to the point of doing ones self harm to escape the discomfort. People that do not live with high levels of pain daily will never understand the daily battle within those who truly suffer on a daily basis. And one who has high levels of pain on a daily basis is a fool if he/she thinks that anyone else cares about your suffering.....it is your load to bear alone and no one can help the sufferer except the sufferer himself. These people who say He/she took the cowardly way out when someone commits suicide have never truly suffered pain the way a chronic pain sufferer has and can never understand what drove someone to do such a thing. Pain wears on the mind and soul to the point that happiness cannot be restored and when that happens the sufferer just wants the pain to end. At the end of the day it is the pain sufferers choice alone whether to forge ahead alone in pain or call it quits. There is very little happiness and joy in ones life when the pain rules every minute of your day. Pain is not just in the body, it is in the mind as well. Pain cannot be seen or felt by others which leaves the bearer seemingly healthy to the eye of others. If someone you know or love suffers from chronic pain, close your eyes and open your ears. You will not see their pain, but if you listen to them you will HEAR the pain they are suffering with and although you may not be able to ease their pain you can read the signs and be a little more sympathetic to their needs or understanding of their situation. Just to clarify....I have no intentions of doing myself harm. I simply get sick of people who have never suffered chronic pain, whether in the body or mind, saying that people like Robin Williams is a coward for taking his own life or judging people that suffer like theyre an expert on the subject. The way I see it, it was his life and he can exit life anytime or way he wanted to......no one will ever know the level of pain he was in, but the pain obviously overpowered the happiness and joy in his life. And to those who look at me and think theres nothing wrong with me and that Im complaining too much or should be working a 40 hour a week job......I invite you to spend a day in my shoes and see if you still feel that way at the end of the day, lets see if you are as strong as I am or if you would take the easy way out. Moral of the story.......you will never feel or understand my pain, so do not judge me unless you have been there. Everyone suffers in their own way, shape or form. I was not always a grouchy asshole.......it is simply the excess pain leaking out of me.
