The differences we get off on invoking are what kill us. By - TopicsExpress

The differences we get off on invoking are what kill us. By invoking, I mean allowing the spirit of whatever current or tide of thought/action youre focusing on to infuse you, nearly to the point of obsession. Allowing yourself to get so invested, you identify with it. I think invoking is the only way to learn, to do, to be involved. You better get right down it and throw away those safety belts. Go big or go home, so they say. I think though, or biggest issue is invoking those forces, isms, stand-points, politics, opinions, etc., permanently. Forgetting that these things are optional, and that they are NOT THE ENTIRE POINT. The point is communication, understanding. The point is being able to sit down with someone totally opposed to you and just talking, having a beer, working it out. Screw illusions like Power or Privilege or class. I mean realizing that were all human and were all interested in whats going on. Sitting down with the Asshole cops or the Illuminati or the Wall Street CEO and sharing stories, finding the common ground. Most folks have a good reason for feeling and doing the things they feel and do. You become opposed, and you de-humanize the perceived alternative. You never get the whole story: You make the gap wider, despite all of those good intentions. The differences that feed our passions when we do that invoking, is killing us to be sure. You invoke the spirit of a liberal, angry, revolutionary social warrior, bent on destroying the injustices of a failing white-based police state. There are truths you see, that you cant argue, that the public HAS TO KNOW. Its absolutely right and logical. People are terrified, people are dying, and the simmering bitterness of many people stuck in an unfair classist and racist social prison happens over and over again. Things are as they stand. Youve become that, and youre right. Thats invoking, connecting to that current of thought and energy on a deep level, and its warranted, but its not perfect. With the noble parts also come the ignoble parts. Say youre on the other end of the spectrum, and you invoke the Rationalist, shut-out, slightly cynical, mis-understood conservative or moderate type. The trends, hypes and jargon are totally clear to you. You see the illness of the media machine working to its own ends. You see young people and minorities played again and again by power structures using things like race, class and gender to its own ends, to generate heat, ratings and political attention. Youre used to being villified; you know that the hypocritical tendencies of the socially aware resemble an angry herd, and to disagree with it provokes a sort of fascism puppeted by unseen hands, a sort of liberal thought-police. You see that the trend can create its own facts, and emotions win out when you have one set of facts vs. another set of facts. Youre invoking this, an underdog under the guide of the mundane masses the media makes you out to be. Youre right, absolutely right, as well. My suggestion follows the old mystic demand: Invoke often, but banish constantly. Get in it, fully, but get in your enemy as well. Thats how were going to get over this shit. Thats how were going to get everyone on the same page, by actually getting on the same page. The curse of investment is that the spirit of the matter hates being uninvested. Its the same with religions and careers. Hell, our greatest faiths put in safeguards against being uninvested, provoking mechanisms of hell and social destruction should you try and unalign with the Cause. Thats worked wonderfully up until now, right? Take the time to not only see where your enemy is coming from, but become them, accept them, then see it for the farce it is. See that youre a person, and that were all people. Pull the plug on the little, greedy gods of invested courses, politics, and isms. Thats how you dont lose sight I think. Expand and try to learn from each other, get to the roots of it.
