The disclosure of infidelity is a traumatic event for the betrayed partner. The majority of individuals I have worked with in this position have met criteria for Post Traumatic Stress: they have intrusive anxiety; unwanted thoughts and images; aggressive outbursts that are out of character; sleep difficulties; and an overall lack of feelings of safety resulting in a constant state of hypervigilance.
