The district’s Student Services and Language Support Services departments will be the latest offices to relocate as part of a reorganization of district central offices that started earlier this year. Both departments will be closed on Friday, Sept. 20 through Monday, Sept. 23, reopening in their new locations on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Student Services will move to the former Slover Mountain High School site at 325 Hermosa Street in Colton. Language Support will move to the main district office at 1212 Valencia Drive, behind Colton Middle School. CJUSD’s Nutrition Services, Risk Management and Health Benefits and Facilities Planning and Construction offices already relocated to the Hermosa site earlier this summer. The opening of the new Joe Baca Middle School campus last year allows the district to consolidate existing facilities, saving approximately $240,000 per year on leased office space. Measure G-funded Joe Baca Middle School, which houses students and staff formerly assigned to Bloomington Middle, opened in August. Slover Mountain took over the former Bloomington Middle School site in April. This latest move is part of a shifting of central offices that will allow the district to vacate currently leased space on Mt. Vernon Avenue in October.
