The downside of having all your devices be from the same - TopicsExpress

The downside of having all your devices be from the same manufacturer: I set up the Apple TV this evening, and found that the remote control also works on my computer when iTunes is running. To the extent that it affects both the Apple TV and the laptop simultaneously. ... Even if the laptop is closed. So that when I was entering the password for the campus wifi network, it was searching through my library and starting to play things at random that started with whatever letter I was entering onscreen. And I couldnt find an easy way to make the computer ignore the remote control. So I ended up downing a free app (called Remote) to the iPhone and iPad to operate the Apple TV. It also can connect with my media library (on my computer), but I get the choice of picking which device it will be controlling. The Samsung TV has a nice, sharp picture, but the built-in speakers leave a little to be desired. Or, more likely, theyre just fine but the fan (and this summer, air conditioning) in this small room is creating white noise and muffling part of it. May look into some cheap speakers to add oomph to the sound system. Suppose Ill set up the blu-ray player tomorrow. First time owning one of those.
