The dream: I have begun to bleed. I pass through a number of rooms inhabited by people I know well, all of whom want to chat with me about interesting things and each time I stop I leave puddles of thin blood on the floor. Sometimes I am in classrooms and I use the cheap brown paper towels to smear up the blood before running away, leaving a spotted trail. I find a bathroom and in the first stall there is a wet sheet piled into the floor and so much blood. Blood on the sheet, meat and blood in the bowl. Someone is having an even worse time of it than me I think, but am not comforted. I move to the next stall, and then I see her feet jutting out from under the wall. They are pale, almost blue. I think she must be dead. From the first stall again I can see that there is a woman wrapped inside the wet sheet, her head is shaved and I can see a blue vein in her skin pressing against the fabric. She is breathing, rough and low. I awaken to Mr. Bob snoring softly and to find that I have started bleeding. Today is going to be strange.
