The drive to impose Hindi in Non-Hindi speaking states is a retrograde step and is bound to harm the national interest. If Modi govt persists with such a foolish step the casualty will be the federalism. A casual peek into the literacy rate of the country by states reveal that Uttarkhand place at 12 will be the first Hindi speaking state. Is it a deep rooted conspiracy to make the literate states to become subordinate states to UP , MP, Bihar and Rajastan? The fact is that these states are underdeveloped and People of theses states have been studying Hindi, probably only Hindi. Even with that they are unable to reach to acceptable levels of literacy rate. If the government still goes ahead and imposes I dont see an agitation like the 60s. But that would mark the end of indigenous languages , rich in history and literature , die a fast and painful death. Our grand children studying Yah Kya hai , yah Kalam hai instead of Thirukkural is a realistic possibility. They will also study the biography of the morons like Sharukkhan , pasted over the pages of Raja Raja Chola and Thirunavukkarasar. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_states_ranking_by_literacy_rate
